Frank Elsner is a professor at RWTH Aachen University in Germany, serving as the deputy director of the Palliative Medicine Clinic, chairman of the Group Education and Training in Palliative Care, Chairman of the Education Commission, Chairman of the Palliative Medicine Working Group, and Head of Qualification Profiles (elective subjects) in the model program in medicine at RWTH Aachen University. He is a member of various professional associations, including the German Society for Palliative Medicine, the German Pain Society, the German-Chinese Society for Medicine, the European Association for Palliative Care, the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care, and the Association of German Anaesthetists. With a background and expertise in anaesthesia, pain management, and palliative medicine, Elsner obtained the professorial qualification in palliative medicine from the Medical Faculty of RWTH Aachen University in 2006—the first such qualification awarded in Germany. He currently acts as a reviewer for several academic journals.
