Xiang Zhou is a professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and an associate director at the Center for Precision Health Data Science. He has dedicated his career to research in statistical genetics and genomics, achieving a series of innovative results in statistical models and computational methods. Zhou earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Peking University, a Master's degree in statistics, and a Ph.D. in neurobiology from Duke University. He previously taught at the University of Chicago's Department of Statistics, where he was honored with the William H. Kruskal Instructorship, John G. Searle Assistant Professorship, and Mid-career Biosciences Faculty Achievement Recognition Award (MBioFAR), among other accolades. He has published over 70 papers as a corresponding author in prestigious journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Nature Genetics, and Nature Methods. Currently, he serves as the program chair for the Statistical Society for Genetics and Genomics (SSGG), a section of the American Statistical Association (ASA). Additionally, he is a standing associate editor for multiple journals including The Annals of Applied Statistics and PLOS Genetics, as well as a guest associate editor for a special issue of Genome Biology.
