This course will develop the skills of participants to engage with the healthcare research literature to distil best available evidence to underpin practice. Participants will devise a group reviewable question using PICO,  PEO or SPIDER models. Participants will access various search engines to retrieve literature, and will gain hands on experience of judging evidence for inclusion/exclusion and quality (risk of bias). Participants will engage in the discussion and debate that underpins critical appraisal. Ultimately participants will engage in extracting findings from evidence in order to formulate a best available evidence position. Participants may also be required to engage in activities in your own time during the course. At the end of the course, participants will have undertaken a rapid review and participated in developing a ‘bottom line’ to a clinical question.
