Distinguished professors, staff, peers, ladies, and gentlemen,

It is indeed a great pleasure for me to address you at this closing ceremony of the 2021 Tongji Summer Program.

In this year’s two-week summer camp, we have learned countless applications of epidemiology in various disciplines of health sciences such as nutrition, molecular biology, genetics, and clinical medicine.

For many of us, this period has been very dynamic and full of dedication as most of us continue to carry out our research and experimentation projects. Moreover, with the guidance of our professors, we became aware of our weaknesses and strengths but above all, we have realized that without a collective effort we cannot succeed in science mainly in short time frames.

In addition to the knowledge acquired during this course, our teachers have shared some of the difficulties they faced during their junior researcher’s life. Their personal experiences have been inspiring and motivate us to continue our careers in the world of health care research.

We have many challenges, but if we look at them from another perspective, those challenges become opportunities. Creative thinking and international scientific cooperation are key elements in addressing local and global health concerns.

Finally, on behalf of the student community, I would like to express our gratitude to all those who made this course possible and look forward to having more courses of this kind the following academic term.

Let's work together to make the coming years the healthiest in our history.
