Dr Nutmeg Hallett is a Registered Mental Health Nurse and Lecturer in Nursing at School of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Birmingham. Dr Hallett is Deputy Programme Director for Masters in Nursing (Leadership and Research) and Deputy Lead to the Risk, Abuse and Violence Research Programme. She provides leadership to research methods modules (Year 3 BNurs/MNurs) and contributes to research teaching and supervision across the portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and through postgraduate research supervision. Her research portfolio builds on her doctoral work investigating violence prevention in secure mental health settings. Her interest in de-escalation, coercion and trauma in mental health has recently begun to focus on the potential of restorative justice as an intervention to ameliorate the impact of coercive and restrictive practices. Dr Hallett is a methodological expert in review techniques and has undertaken a number of commissioned and competitively funded reviews for government agencies to inform evidence based policy.
