Piyawadee Thongyost is an adult and gerontological nursing instructor specializing in caring for people with eye, ear, nose, and throat problems at Ramathibodi School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. She has ten years of experience teaching
undergraduate nursing students and ophthalmic nurse practitioners in the unit ward. She also has expertise in caring for patients with eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and corneal ulcer before and after surgery. In addition, she also has experience in caring for head
and neck cancer patients treated by radiation and receiving chemotherapy and surgery. During her master’s degree, she studied the experience of xerostomia, symptom management, and quality of life in patients with head and neck cancer post-radiation. For her Ph.D., she conducted experimental research on a self- and family-management support program among older people with diabetic retinopathy and visual impairment.
